A Blog That Makes Money (From $5-$500,000)

A Blog That Makes Money (From $5-$500,000)

Over the last 7 years, my blog has turned into a real business even though I had no idea what I was doing when I first got started. One that makes money monthly and supports the goals that I set for myself.

During those 7 years, I’ve made some wrong turns, had some significant wins, and, most importantly, learned new skills that weren’t innate. None of us was born knowing how to run a business. We have to learn it somewhere along the way.

Building a business starts with the spark of your idea put into action. But to make it solid, at some point you have to incorporate a foundation of sound business principles that just plain work across industries.

Whether you’re hoping to make enough money to pay your insurance every month or to fully support your family, there are fundamental principles that will build the foundation of a solid business.

In this video, I share how I turned my blog that started as a creative outlet into a real-life business, and I hope it’ll help you on your journey. Take the nuggets that work for you and your situation, and I know you’ll feel so much more grounded and less alone!

What we’re not up on we tend to be down on.  A Blog That Makes Money (From $5-$500,000)

After you watch the video, I’d love to hear from you:

What kind of business do you want (whether you have one already and want to shift it or you want to start one)? If you could make money doing one thing, what would that thing be? What questions do you have about online business?

Tell me in the comments!

P.S. Want to learn the 5 mistakes even smart entrepreneurs make and how to avoid them? One of the smartest business women I know, who taught me a lot of what’s helped our business work so well, Marie Forleo, is teaching a free webinar this week only. In it she’s going to teach:

  • How to 45X your marketing efforts using a tool everyone thought was “so over”
  • The website links that stop buyers dead in their tracks
  • Why more traffic isn’t always what you need — and what you should do instead
  • The story of how one entrepreneur killed almost every single offering she had and tripled her income in a few months
  • The controversial truth about marketing that even the most brilliant CEOs don’t understand

P.P.S. If starting or growing a business leveraging the internet is on your list, I highly recommend checking out Marie Forleo’s B-School program. I credit B-School and Marie’s mentorship as a big part of having been able to build the business that we have. This year we’ve got a suite of bonuses I’m particularly excited about. Check out the program and our bonuses here.

Omg this is me. You are me. I have dreams of a blog because I have this overwhelming need to share and be heard! I started a blog sometime back but had no idea what I was doing! I still don’t I just feel as God has given me this calling for some reason. Either writing a book or blog. Where do I start however?? Guess I will take today’s snow day to find info on it.

DO IT! Start by getting your blog up and starting to write. That’s it. I got my site up for less than $100. Just get going.

Thank you for your radiant authenticity Kate. I love hearing about how you got started blogging and how that evolved into the business you have today. I am a newbie and have a yearning to write… having a good talking to Resistance right now cos I’m ready to leap and get started. Aargh!

I’m so glad this resonated with you Miranda. My advice: start! You’ll learn way more through doing than you will through resisting and thinking about it ;)

  • Hi Kate!

Your video inspired me to go back and look at the stats for a blog I wrote mainly in 2011-2012. Just a personal “brain dump” thing I never publicized. Turns out to my surprise, one of my posts had over 1600 views! Very regularly a few dozen reads per month, for the last 7 years. That’s way more than any of the other posts. Funny, isn’t it! I’ve no idea where those viewers came from.

    All the best,

    Pascale
