Why Earning More Isn’t Enough (and What to Do Instead)

Last week, we explored how rewiring your nervous system by signaling safety to your body is the key to your wild abundance.

This week, we’re diving into something that’s incredibly common, even among people who make great money: the hidden costs of avoidance.

I know this territory a little better than I wish 😬.

I used to focus ALL my life force on just making more money, never bothering to tend to what had already come in.

I thought someday I’d just earn enough to not need to tend to it.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t work!

When I combined money healing with loving attention on my money, though, my income actually skyrocketed. And so did my level of peace and prosperity because I was caring for what I had as I allowed more in.

Here’s the thing—when you’re earning well, it’s easy to tell yourself you don’t have to worry about managing your money. You might:
✨ Pay someone else to handle it.
✨ Focus on earning more as a way to cover up financial gaps.
✨ Avoid diving into the details because it feels overwhelming, boring, or just “not your thing.”

But here’s the truth: making more money doesn’t fix avoidance—it hides it.

The Emotional Toll of Outsourcing Without Engagement

Outsourcing isn’t inherently bad (in fact, it’s totally necessary), but here’s the problem:

When you’re not engaged with your finances, you give your power away.

Avoidance creates a disconnection between you and your money, leading to:
✨ Lingering anxiety or uncertainty, even when you’re earning more than enough.
✨ Stressful surprises because you’re not tuned into the full picture.
✨ A nagging feeling of being out of control, no matter how much you delegate.

The Financial Costs of Avoidance

Avoidance doesn’t just chip away at your confidence—it can quietly erode your finances, too:

  • Missed opportunities. Are your investments aligned with your goals? Is your money working as hard as you are? If you’re not paying attention, the answer is often no.
  • Unnecessary spending. Without clear stewardship, it’s easy to say yes to things that don’t truly align with your values, dreams, and priorities.
  • The trap of “more.” Relying on more income to patch the gaps leads to burnout—not freedom.

Why Avoidance Happens

Avoidance isn’t a character flaw—it’s a survival mechanism. When money tasks feel boring, overwhelming, or outside your expertise, your nervous system might step in with protective patterns that lead to thoughts like:
“This isn’t worth my time—I’ll just earn more instead.”
“I don’t have to worry about this—someone else will handle it.”
“It’s easier to focus on what I’m great at (making money) and skip the rest.”

These thought patterns are rooted in your nervous system’s response to stress. And while they might feel true in the moment, they create a long-term disconnect that costs you more than you realize.

The Path to Financial Bliss

Here’s the good news: Breaking free from avoidance doesn’t mean micromanaging your money or doing it all yourself. It’s about building trust—with yourself and your systems.

Start here:

  1. Re-engage with curiosity. Instead of outsourcing everything, take time to understand the flow of your money. Look at your accounts. Check-in with your financial team.
  2. Start small. Choose one area to focus on—whether it’s organizing expenses, tracking cash flow, or setting up a new account—and celebrate your progress.
  3. Pair action with safety. Before and after any money-related task, do your favorite nervous system healing tool. When you do, it signals to your body that you’re safe and at choice. (Don’t have a favorite tool? The lesson that comes with my Money Breakthrough Guide teaches one of my favorites!)

Why This Matters

When you stop relying on earning more to cover avoidance patterns, you boldly reclaim your Life Force, power, creativity, and joy.

It’s not about doing it all—it’s about feeling like the baller that you are in your stewardship of what’s already flowing to you. And the best part? When you lovingly align your systems with your values, abundance doesn’t just feel easier—it becomes inevitable.

More to come on this. We’re just getting started. 😘

Kate
