The responses AI gives us when we prompt it on certain topics tell us so much about our culture and our collective consciousness.
I work in the realm of money and the nervous system. I’ve been teaching at the intersection of prosperity and the body for the past decade.
And anytime I chat with AI on this topic, no matter how many times I’ve asked it not to, it talks to me about “how much the nervous system can hold.”
I’m quite sure that AI and our collective understanding both have it wrong.
To hold something requires effort.
Whether it’s more money, more success, more visibility, or more love, the coaching world (just like AI – likely because much of the content of said world is being written by AI) loves to talk about how we need to increase the amount we can hold if we want to have more of anything.
But this interpretation is physiologically inaccurate.
When you really understand the nervous system, you get that it’s essentially the electrical system of the body.
You don’t need to build a stronger nervous system.
Repatterning the nervous system is not the same thing as strengthening a muscle.
Repatterning the nervous system works like this:
You practice unhooking certain interpretations of inputs from automatic outputs so that your interpretations of what’s happening outside of you are more accurate and more supportive.
For example:
Let’s take the input of more money coming in.
If your nervous system has practiced interpreting more money with increased effort because of what you’ve experienced and been exposed to, your automatic output might be an increase in stress, effort, and felt pressure.
The jump in income might make you immediately work harder because the pattern running underneath your behavior has money and hard work paired together.
But if you want more money coming in without an increase in stress, you need to practice repatterning your interpretation so you can get a different output – and actually enjoy, keep, and grow the money as it comes.
I use a neuroscience-backed method that thousands of my students have used to repattern the nervous system and you know what it doesn’t include?
Learning to hold more.
It really has nothing to do with holding, at all.
Having practiced repatterning my nervous system for the past 7 years (a practice which I’ll continue until the day I die), and having worked with thousands of students I can tell you this:
It feels far more like softening than strengthening for most.
It’s more surrender. Less shouldering.
Most of us high-achievers need to do the opposite of learning how to hold more.
We need to practice softening and allowing.
Our bodies are conduits of energy. They’re not containers.
Containers hold. Conduits allow.
So, no need to learn how to get your nervous system to hold more money (or anything else.)
All you need to do is repattern to allow more to flow in and through you.
Let’s stop talking about needing to hold more, shall we?
Let’s open when we used to clench. Let’s trust when we used to control. Let’s soften when we used to tense.
You’re strong enough. You’ve held enough.
Now you get to exhale and allow.
That’s true prosperity. And there’s no limit to your capacity to allow it.
