What if AI didn’t replace humans—but gave us more time and capacity to actually be human?
In this episode, Kate sits down with AI expert Callan Faulkner, who has trained more than 13,000 business owners to become AI architects. Callan shares the extraordinary story behind a launch she expected to generate $4 million that ultimately crossed $19.5 million—and the financial and nervous system work she did in the months leading up to that expansion.
They unpack Callan’s money story, from growing up with an underlying feeling that there was never enough to learning how to make increasing amounts of money without necessarily knowing how to manage it. She shares how preparing for greater wealth before it arrived helped her body feel safe receiving it, and why having the systems, team, and financial plan in place mattered just as much as setting a bigger goal.
Then they dive into AI: what it could mean for the future of work, the environmental concerns surrounding it, whether it’s making us less intelligent, and how businesses can use it without losing the human element. Callan explains how she’s built more than 150 “AI employees” while never firing a human because of AI—instead using the technology to move her team away from repetitive work and into more strategic, creative roles.
Ultimately, this conversation is about far more than technology. It’s about using AI as leverage to create more time, possibility, abundance, creativity, and space for the parts of life that only humans can experience.
“I have not fired one person because of AI. I have only elevated their role.” – Callan Faulkner

Callan Faulkner: I don’t know what’s gonna happen with AI. What I know right now is that AI is creating the biggest opportunity for people to make money, to create leverage in their life, to create efficiency, to elevate the human experience than we’ve ever had in our entire existence. Oh, today’s episode is rich. I am here with AI expert, Callan Faulkner. And she,
Kate Northrup: last May, expected to do a $4,000,000 launch and instead crossed the 19,500,000 mark, which was a five x increase on what she thought. So in this episode, we talk about her money story, the work that she did, the exact process she did four months prior to crossing that goal that prepared her body and her nervous system and her psyche to expand on that level financially. We also talk about the future of AI, data centers, the environment, human authenticity, human connection. Is it making humans dumber? So many of the objections that I hear over and over and over again, and we talk about the possibility and the potential of what AI can mean for human potential and human development.
And then also along the way, she is giving you some incredible ideas and hacks of ways you can use AI to save time to elevate your human experience, and to make progress on the goals that will change your lives and the lives of millions of people. She’s trained over 13,000 business owners to become AI architects and save tons of time and elevate their strategy and their world changing capacity. And today, she’s gonna do the same for you. Enjoy Callan Faulkner. Welcome to Plenty, a weekly recalibration of power, money, and safety for high capacity humans.
I’m Kate Northrup, best selling author and creator of Relaxed Money, and this is where neuroscience meets ancient wisdom meets real wealth strategy. This is the sacred conversation at the intersection of money, the body, and the life you’re truly here to live. If you’re ready to reimagine what’s possible for yourself and for the world, you’re in the right place. Let’s go. Hi.
Hi. Thanks for having me. Thanks for being here. Welcome. Thank you.
I wanna start where I love to start, which is with people’s money stories. So I’d love to know you’ve just gone through expansion of tremendous A growth. Of tremendous size.
Callan Faulkner: Tremendous size. Tremendous size.
Kate Northrup: Financially and otherwise. And I’m always super curious to learn the behind the scenes of what’s going on underneath money for people. We have a cultural assumption that is inaccurate that money is about math. And Mhmm. Because money is made up, it is never about just the numbers.
Correct. And I’d love to know whatever you wanna tell me. Yeah. Whatever feels relevant about the environment you grew up in around money and what you learned about money that you were caught that you caught, not necessarily that you were taught.
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. Well, I love the question. I grew up I’m I’m in mid thirties, so kind of a classic nineties baby. I my parents we didn’t really talk about it. Like, I knew my parent my dad owned his own business.
He came into some success when I was in kind of the third, fourth, fifth grade. I could feel it. We we moved into a beautiful home. We had a great, childhood. But I I felt this feeling of there was never enough from both sides of my parents, and now I have learned that my grandparents both felt that way.
And towards the end of my grandparents’ life, they were the question of they’d walk in, we’d walk into the nursing home, and the question was, how much money is in my bank account? How much money is in my bank account? Is there enough? And there was obviously enough. But it was almost it it was a stress to the point of physical they could feel it.
Like, we could all feel it physically. It was an anxiety. So I I never felt like there was enough. And I didn’t know I started in a sales role. So I was in I was a sales rep.
Both my parents were in sales, which I’m super grateful for. And I started, you know, making these increments of money. I sold Cutco Knives. Was one of the Love Cutco Knives.
Callan Faulkner: forever guarantee. Incredible. They’re the best.
Kate Northrup: And the training Oh, yeah. The number of entrepreneurs I have met who have a solid Cutco training.
Callan Faulkner: Absolutely. A solid cold calling background. Well, we can talk about that later too because I think that was a very big part of my rapid success is my sales background. And I started making these increments of money, and you’ve gone through this where you say, well, when I when I make a $100,000 a year, life’s gonna be so good. You do that and you’re like, well, you know, I need to well, there’s obviously this next level and there’s the next level and the next level.
And two years ago, I was running two successful businesses, which is always a problem when you got two businesses, same time, time, which I learned. And I was making probably around seven or eight hundred thousand a year. And I was like, this is absolutely insane. You know, when you’re at these first couple levels, you’re like, what is happening? But I mismanaged my money.
I was I would not look in my bank account. And I still still am, like, still navigating that, like, not wanting to look at it. Wouldn’t look at my bank account, didn’t prepare for taxes, had a massive tax bill. And it just came all back to, wow. I am so fearful of looking, and it just came to, well, what if there’s not enough in That was the story.
Kate Northrup: Yeah. It makes so much sense. Yeah. So many of us have been there. Yeah.
I will never forget the first year that that tax bill was due, and I hadn’t put money aside even though I was told
Callan Faulkner: We knew.
Kate Northrup: Right? It’s not a surprise that taxes are due as a business owner. Yep. And yet your story is not unusual. I wish it were, but Yeah.
It’s not.
Callan Faulkner: Yeah.
Kate Northrup: And that fear of I don’t wanna look. Mhmm. And I’m curious for you, underneath that I don’t wanna look, what at the time or even now Yeah. Do Yeah. Did you or do you make the number mean about you that would have you avoid it?
Callan Faulkner: It was I am a bad leader and a bad business owner because and I think a lot of our male business owners, you know, they’re very that masculine energy is like knowing the numbers and looking at the data and very black and white, and that’s not natural to me. I’m not a finance girly. I don’t like the finance meetings. Now I’m learning to love them because we’ve also catapulted our financial position in in a really positive way. So it’s wonderful.
It’s a great meeting. It’s fun meeting now. I’m like, this is great. I love this. It’s not always gonna be like that.
And so it’s learning to love it and learning to appreciate it, but I definitely took it as I’m not gonna be a great entrepreneur because I don’t know my numbers. And I I didn’t wanna look because if I looked, I’m like, don’t even know what this means. I don’t know what I don’t know what $200,000 in my bank account means. And I also had the PTSD around the tax bill that was 175 k or whatever. Yeah.
So you’re like, I don’t even know if this is real. Right. And how much do I owe? Is it mine? Is it theirs?
What are my expenses coming up? And so then when you just avoid all of it, that’s where all the the chaos comes from.
Kate Northrup: Right. And, of course, the avoidance just makes the lack of a system sort of metastasize. And I would you know, that that has been I know for sure that that has been cleaned up. Cleaned up. And I’m curious.
So you had this launch that you were going to do that just completed, what, in May
Callan Faulkner: or something?
Kate Northrup: In May. Yep. What had you projected that launch to do?
Callan Faulkner: Our goal was 4,000,000 in revenue. Mhmm.
Kate Northrup: And what would 4,000,000 have meant for you?
Callan Faulkner: That was huge already. Like, when I was saying that number back in March, February, my body was contracting because the goal was so big. And it it was and our margins in these launches are really healthy. And so it was that would have meant, you know, minimum a million dollars cash in my pocket, you know. So that’s huge.
That’s that’s that’s moving towards not having to worry about that. I’m like, if I can do this consistently, that would have been a massive, massive win.
Kate Northrup: Yeah. Yeah. Totally. What did you do when you noticed that there was a contraction in your body, you know, four months before the launch when you had stated that goal?
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. It’s interesting. I think I’m a type of person that I love to break ceilings. I love to beat goals. Like, I’m an athlete.
I love that competitive nature. And so I went through a divorce in 2023, and that really exposed me to I didn’t know that an emotion was a feeling felt in the body. So we learned that, and I’m sure a lot of people are learning that later in their life. We don’t learn it in school. I learned how to sew a pillowcase, but I didn’t learn that emotion was a feeling in the body.
So that was helpful.
Kate Northrup: How many times have you needed to sew a pillowcase
Callan Faulkner: Not many. In your would have been helpful. I’ve learned to balance a checkbook. Yeah. Yeah.
So the the curriculum there is a little off. But, yeah, I learned how to feel my feel my feel my feelings. And so, you know, lead running this business, I really I I started this business in 2024. I I told myself, I’m like, every time I feel it, like, feel it. Because I that was the divorce was the first time I really had to feel my feels.
And so I would feel the contraction, I’d do my exercise of like, okay. Where where is it coming from? What is it? And it’s like, yeah. Well, I just don’t know if it’s possible.
And I’m like, then I’d have to turn to her, has someone else done it? I’m like, well, they have. Yep. Well, if someone else has done it, I think we can. Are we doing everything we possibly can in our power?
Am I doing everything in my power to set us up for success? Yes. Okay. Then I’m proud of myself. Beautiful.
And that was my I was a basketball player. My dad loved John Wooden, and he would always say, you know, that I know your dad loves basketball too. So it’s like, did we do everything in our power to set ourselves up for success? And we are. Yeah.
I love that.
Kate Northrup: So launch closes, and you and I had an opportunity to chat on the phone right around that We did. Day. Yeah. And in the end, you did how much?
Callan Faulkner: 19,500,000.
Kate Northrup: 19,500,000, which is five x
Callan Faulkner: Yes.
Kate Northrup: The expected Yes. Amount. Right.
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. Yeah. What Yeah.
Kate Northrup: It was. What did it feel like at the moment during the launch where you saw yourself past the original goal that had already felt like a stretch? What
Callan Faulkner: was that day like? It was the way I would describe it is very multiple emotions, obviously, like dopamine and adrenaline. But there was definitely this especially as I saw the number rising, oh, this means we’re gonna have six x the amount of students that we we were gonna have. So because you didn’t cap it. Correct.
And there were moments of like, should we? And I had conversations with you and Amy and a few others and we and they were all and you guys are like, no. Just just make sure you’re in the back and you’re ready. So we called 10 of our top students that we are obsessed with, and they’ve been through our program for multiple years, and we said, can you coach? And all 10 immediately said yes.
That was a massive wait.
Kate Northrup: That also such a sign of what’s actually happening behind the scenes of your business. I really wanna highlight
Callan Faulkner: Thank you.
Kate Northrup: That that is a reflection Yeah. Because it’s really easy to look like one thing in front of the scenes.
Callan Faulkner: 100%. Thank you. And that that was yeah. For me too. I’m like, wow.
You you know, they have businesses. They are you know, these AI consultants are doing these insane things. It wasn’t even about money for them. It was really about coming in and being supportive. Yeah.
So that was super emotional for me of just like, wow. I’m so supported. I feel so held. And once I knew I had these coaches and advisers on deck, I was like, no. We can let’s go.
Like, now I felt I felt that that felt that kind of jubilation and dopamine. Then in the back of my head, though, we do have a refund policy on our program. Uh-huh. And it’s if you go through the first six weeks and you do the first four out of the six builds, you can request a refund if you’re not getting value. Okay.
So it was I obviously was like, oh my god. This is absolutely insane, and I’m not going to feel that we’ve earned this until we get to week six.
Kate Northrup: Which is brilliant, by the way. Some people might be like, oh, no. That’s the voice of fear. And I’m like, no. No.
Yeah. That’s the voice of math. Correct. Yes. Feelings, but also math.
And so many business owners are reporting on the top line Yep. Making decisions on on booked, not banked. Correct. And so I just there’s a lot of wisdom in that.
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. And we earned about 60% of that in cash, which was amazing. Yeah. You know, I mean Love a full pay. You know, what I did go to Miami to celebrate and, like, looking at your bank account and seeing $10,000,000 in there is definitely a identity upgrade Yeah.
And, like, a level up in all ways. But I I I really was like, this is not my money until I earn it. And so it really turned us, like, straight from launch into Delivery. Yeah. Like, I was like, I am not letting these first six weeks out of my sight.
I wanna see everything. I want everything buttoned up. Yeah. And we absolutely crushed it.
Kate Northrup: Of course.
Callan Faulkner: You too. We we absolutely crushed it. And so once we started to get to week six, seven, eight, people were obsessed, I was like, the the release of just like, we we did this. Yeah. We freaking did this.
Started to set in, but it took a little bit.
Kate Northrup: Yeah. What I’m hearing, and I’m curious if I’m correct, is that you actually did the work of expansion in advance, about four to five months in advance, not to mention the years of previous layering. So this is not like this didn’t happen in four months. But let’s say right? And then so by the time the number actually showed up and it was five x what you had expected, it seems like there was a lot more space for it.
Callan Faulkner: There was. And what we haven’t talked about yet, which I which I talked about with you on the day was I worked with my financial team those six months leading up to the launch and told them, you know, my goal is $50,000,000 net net worth over the next five to ten years. And that’s that’s that is what we’ve been reverse engineering against. What does that goal come from? That goal comes from the the impact I wanna make, what I’ve seen other people in my life, the amount of resources they’ve had to have to make the impact I wanna make.
And also just a general, I don’t know how to describe it, inner knowing that that the resources and the abundance is a destiny. Like, it just feels very, very logical for me. I don’t know how to describe it. Yeah. We’ve had a lot of these conversations internally with my friends and family of, what are you doing unless all four?
I’m like, I can’t really describe it. I just I just know that I’m I’m doing it for fun. Yeah. Yay. For fun.
Totally. It’s a game. Like, I’m playing a game. I feel like this is a sport, and I get to play the chess game.
Kate Northrup: It is. Money is a game. Yes. You just need to learn the rules.
Callan Faulkner: That’s right. And then with constraints, you know, I I can’t work after five. You know, we have to be able to take a month off at a time. Launch. Correct.
Exactly during a launch. I do I do get a two week period where I can’t. Yeah. But what I did before is I worked with my finance team, and we hypothesized this. Like, if we did get $10,000,000 into the business, where would the money go?
What how much would I take personally? Where would it go? Like, truly, what actual account would we put it in? What would be the plan? And so they walked me through this entire plan before, and I didn’t know if that was a five year timeline, a ten year timeline, a twenty year timeline, or never a timeline.
I was I was very detached from it ever being a timeline, but I’ve learned this from you of money needs to feel safe. Yeah. And so I knew that if that did come in, I had zero zero nervous system response around the money coming in because I had the whole team set up. You know, I pay $5,000 a month just for my financial team and and and tax team, and they probably should be 10 k a month, but I’ve been working with them for a long time. And I would pay that as well, and I knew I was paying in advance to be prepared for this to to happen.
Kate Northrup: And it’s as though you were an Olympic skier sitting with your eyes closed Yes. Visualizing every gate. Yes. As you went around it and running that course Yes. Ahead of time so that your body already knew.
Callan Faulkner: Well, that’s the whole thing. And, you know, when I say those words like $50,000,000 net worth, that is like the equivalent to the gold medal. Mhmm. Is the skier going to win a gold medal? Maybe, maybe not.
But well, what are all of the things that would need to be done, or what is the greatest possible chance of winning a gold medal?
Kate Northrup: Yeah.
Callan Faulkner: What are the activities or actions that need to be taken? Let’s freaking do it.
Kate Northrup: Why not? Why wouldn’t we? Why not? Why wouldn’t we ever invest chance? Like 10 x is easier than two x.
Like, whether or you do 10 x, you’re going to have grown more than if you just were trying to set smaller goals that were fixed.
Callan Faulkner: Exactly. I’m I’m still driving my Toyota RAV four. You can’t get
Kate Northrup: me out of it. Listen. You will see behind this wall my Toyota Prius, and I am a proud driver of that. So I wanna say we had a conversation about cars, and I’m just not a car person. I really Totally are.
Callan Faulkner: I it’s kinda how I am.
Kate Northrup: However, I did go ahead and test drive a Porsche because
Callan Faulkner: You did.
Kate Northrup: I was just we were out and the I’ve never driven away and I was like, let’s just drive drive all the cars. I drove an INEOS Granadier, I drove a Mercedes, I drove a whole bunch of different things. And I ended with the Porsche, and I just wanna say that I was like, oh, yes, this is different.
Callan Faulkner: I never do because I’m like you, I’m like
Kate Northrup: I was like, because why does it bother? Gets me from point a to point b. It’s paying off. It’s $25 a month in gas. And then I was like, okay.
Wow. So I don’t know. We’ll see.
Callan Faulkner: So this is where I’m at. I’m I think it’s a but this is the thing. It’s like, do you need the Porsche to feel cooler, to feel better, to feel like I want everyone’s eyes on me? Right. In fact, you probably don’t want the eyes.
They’re like, don’t get me red, don’t give me yellow, give me white or black. Like, I just wanna fit in. And that is what I would say for people that are kind of navigating, like, what is it for? And then a, are you waiting for it to be happy, or are you so effing happy right now in your current state?
Kate Northrup: Yeah.
Callan Faulkner: And that’s where that’s the work that I that we we do, right, is how do you be happy? And I have been so incredibly happy. I was happy single, and I never thought, never, if you told me because I got an anxious attachment, that I could be deeply happy and feel so loved by my friends and so joyful in my life without a romantic partner in my cute little house in Minnesota, cooking for my girls on a Monday night, like, that is my joy. Yeah. And this is just it’s just amplifying all the joy I already have in my life.
And my my friends are the same. My family is the same. Everyone treats me this. It’s all the same. And I get goofs when I say it because that is what we’re after.
That this doesn’t change anything.
Kate Northrup: And earlier today, somebody else sat in your seat who has a very different story where she actually went for it, and she lost some of the closest relationships in her life.
Callan Faulkner: And
Kate Northrup: I will say I am curious, and you can only say the amount that feels good. Totally. Has there been any adjustment? And not it’s not really even a I I just wanna state this clearly. Relationships don’t need to change at all
Callan Faulkner: Yeah.
Kate Northrup: Because of money. You just talked about that. Yeah. I am a living example of that. Yeah.
Once you become my friend, you actually can’t get rid of me, so just Yeah. Know that. I have friends since I was two. Yeah. Yeah.
However, sometimes as we adjust and grow and expand and outgrow old identities and ways of being, there can be a shift in And I’m curious, has well, obviously, you went through a divorce, who knows what
Callan Faulkner: that was about? Yeah.
Kate Northrup: That’s But but, like, has there been any kind of friction or, like, moments where you feel like, ah, am I gonna become too big for belonging? 100%. Well, there there is
Callan Faulkner: a group of friends that I have not talked to in over a year now. And there I it really comes back to like a big miscommunication. I think there was a moment on social media where maybe they thought I was talking about them and I wasn’t. And I have cleared it up with a couple of them, which has been so so great for me. Some of us haven’t.
We haven’t talked about it. And social media is hard. I I didn’t I don’t wanna be on I mean, let’s say it for the universe. I absolutely desire and love my presence on social media, and I want it to grow because I have a message I need to It is an incredible platform for that. Someone the other day asked me, I was like, do have a personal social media outside of this one?
I was like, you can’t even get me on this one. Right. Think You I’ve got a personal one? No. It’s not No.
My second nature to be on it, but I understand the value, and it’s something I’m investing in because it’s important. But, yeah, I saw what happened in that moment, and I think, you know, they felt hurt. I’ve I’ve wanted to clean things up and we haven’t. They’re in for some of us and I don’t know. I think first, there’s seasons and chapters and I’ve had to kind of learn like, you know, I have this group of friends that when there’s an issue, they just come to me immediately and we talk through it and we work through things and we become stronger.
And that’s what you do with your partner, with your kids. Like, that what that is what makes a relationship stronger. And I did feel a little, you know, isolated. And I think it’s important because I think some people see us as like, well, who wouldn’t wanna be friends with us? And to know, like, there definitely is group of people
Kate Northrup: that Plenty of people. Yeah. I was with them
Callan Faulkner: at a in an event, and they didn’t want anything to do with me. I’m, like, walking over near them. They’re, like, skirting around the corner to be distant from me. But I send them truly nothing but love. Like, even knowing I was gonna see them, I was like, I want to be able to hug them and be like, I love you.
I’ve had so much fun with you. And it’s okay if we’re not friends right now.
Kate Northrup: Yeah. I wanna highlight that I just got off a coaching call with a woman who was not sure if she should send this email because of the potential consequences of the email. Yeah. And I was like, here’s the deal. You worst case scenario, you don’t get the result you want, and you end up exactly where you are right now.
Many times, we are not taking the action we wanna take that maybe we’re destined for. Yeah. Expanding our business, going for it with a book, a song. I have no idea. Like, becoming a world champion soup maker.
Like, whatever it is, it doesn’t matter because we’re afraid of no longer belonging, because we’re afraid of what this person will think or what that person will think.
Callan Faulkner: Yep.
Kate Northrup: And I wanna highlight that you are here, thriving, happy. This thing happened in your life. A woman sat right in that chair a couple of hours ago and told a similar story honestly. She is happy. She is thriving, and she is wishing all of those people well.
Can you imagine if you had let the fear of being misunderstood, the fear of Right. Not belonging stop you from changing the thousands and thousands of lives that you’ve changed through your AI coaching.
Callan Faulkner: Right.
Kate Northrup: Those people would have missed out in such a massive way Totally. Because of listening to the voice of fear. And, like, you survived it. You’re fine. More than fine.
More than fine. Right. They are likely to. Absolutely.
Callan Faulkner: Like, we’re all fine. And I I do I think it all comes back to, like, truly what this story is around women and friends and many many women have been very hurt by friends. And so when that thing happens, it’s just telling it’s building and creating more of a story. Or it’s just making room for the next for the next friend group, for the next thing, for the next, you know, even meeting you guys this year. Like that wasn’t on my bucket list and this is now a new friend group of people I can communicate with and rely on and call and have trustworthy conversations with.
And then it just shows who your who your OGs are. Like, who are the people that are gonna have the hardest conversations with you when something’s misunderstood? And knowing that friendships are an interesting thing because we you know, I know you have some from when you were two, and I think many women desire this old group of girls that’s been together for a long time. Many of my closest friends I met in the last two years. Yeah.
Most of them, actually. And that’s amazing. And you could meet your best friend tomorrow. You just don’t know. But are you getting in rooms where your best friend might be?
This is you know, we’re trying to manifest Very important. Romantic partner. We’re doing all these things. We’re getting on Tinder. We’re going to this.
We’re doing dates. We’re going travel. Same thing for a friend. You gotta get I met most of my best friends through masterminds, through these hypocrites.
Kate Northrup: Showing up at events.
Callan Faulkner: Yep. Yeah. A 100%. Put yourself out there.
Kate Northrup: Some of them actually were my clients. I was their client. I mean, a lot of them were in the context of Yeah. Putting myself in spaces Yeah. Where people have shared values, shared ambition Yeah.
Or playing a big game Yeah. And celebrate, the bigger things get Absolutely. Opposed to building up resentment. 100%. Okay.
Kate Northrup: So we’re gonna take a hard left. Let’s go. Let’s go. And we’re gonna talk AI.
Callan Faulkner: Let’s
Kate Northrup: go. So a lot of my community, I get pushback on the following, and we’re just gonna tick it off. K. Okay. I get pushback a lot on the environmental impact.
I get pushback on the safety of talking about money with it. K. And then I get pushback on authenticity. K. And then also the other one is, just so you know, if you’re listening and this is you, like, we’re gonna get it covered.
And then the other one would be that it is changing our brain and making us dumber. Okay. So those are the four that I wanted to address.
Callan Faulkner: Think it might have been five, but here we go. Okay. Could have been. You let me know. We’ve got Alvin in the background.
He’s gonna remember all of this. Alright. Number one, let’s talk environment. Are you familiar with the International Energy Agency? No.
You do their work? Perfect. I have been studying their work, and they’re doing a lot of work understanding, yes, we’re making a massive investment in AI right now in terms of data centers to get AI up and running. What does this mean for AI saving energy in the next ten years? And what we’re finding, what we’re seeing is if this is deployed properly, we are going to be able to save three to 10 times more energy than what we are using to create because of all the massive inefficiencies that are happening in our energy expenditure.
Think about all the buildings in the world that are overcooled, overheated. The machines and factories that are running too hot because we’re not calibrating them properly. The trucks on the highway that are a quarter full, they could be a 100% full if we had if AI had organized that properly. So number one, there’s a massive energy misuse and waste that AI is going to be able to solve across manufacturing logistics supply chain. Second thing is that using AI for 300 chats with ChatGPT is equivalent to the energy usage of an hour watching Netflix.
Kate Northrup: Wow. And I’m coming nowhere close to 300 chats. Correct. Maybe I like, is it chat? We don’t know because it depends.
But it’s, like, a couple back and forth.
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. One chat. Like like, prompt Like, prompt. Response. Boom, boom, boom, 300.
Kate Northrup: Yeah. It’s very rare that I would ever get to 300. I say that. An hour of Netflix, like, a couple
Callan Faulkner: times a week. Absolutely. So I say it because, yes, our do we have an energy usage issue in The United States? We need our government to step up. We need incentives for companies to be reporting on their AI usage of energy spend.
I am very passionate about this. It’s kind of my next level of getting government more involved in this. Cool. But number two, stop complain you’re trolling me on Instagram using energy in data centers, commenting on my ads that we’re using water. You’re using water right now.
Like, we’re you know, so there’s this this little bit of a catch 22 here.
Kate Northrup: I love calling that out Yeah. Because they’re so so often, we are making other people and other things the problem instead of asking like, hey, how could I clean this up in my own life? Correct. About anything.
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. Yeah. And I I really am and hopeful that AI is going to save a massive amount of energy.
Kate Northrup: What about I love this, and I can really see that. What about now, here’s some I’m gonna ask you a question about something I really don’t understand about.
Callan Faulkner: Just
Kate Northrup: ask But I me hear about this, and I haven’t researched, so I’m using this moment. What about, like, data centers and all the, like, the problems with that and how communities are like, don’t put that here, and why is that? What’s the issue? Yeah. What do you see
Callan Faulkner: with the data centers? I think we we have a an issue of of where are we putting our data centers or how we optimizing a server? Like, what the data Essentially, imagine you have a room full of these servers, and servers are that what holds all of the data. I mean, for any software to run, and then we’ll talk about privacy in a second. Yep.
Let’s use an example. Let’s say you use QuickBooks. Do you use a software accounting software?
Kate Northrup: We do use QuickBooks Online.
Callan Faulkner: Very good. So we do as well. Put your data inside of QuickBooks. That data exists inside of a server somewhere. We say
Kate Northrup: it’s in the cloud, it does not mean it is going into outer space or into the sky.
Callan Faulkner: It’s not.
Kate Northrup: It is going into a building where a server exists right here on
Callan Faulkner: Earth. That’s right. Data server centers. Today years old. That’s amazing.
This is great. This is great. So this is really fun because my background is technology consulting. So when I would go into these big Fortune 500 companies, I’d walk in, and I’m I’m actually looking at this room with glass. Mhmm.
I would look into a room, and it would be all their servers, and so all of the company’s data was on premise. In there. So when I was when I was coaching them on, hey. You guys are gonna put your data in the cloud, they say, no. No.
No. Our data is here in this server room and nowhere else. But now every company in the world you know, besides, you know, maybe US government has their own data service centers that they own, but you have your data with someone’s server center somewhere
Kate Northrup: in the cloud, which is actually in a server in a data center. Correct. I don’t know where.
Callan Faulkner: Correct. And we need these servers. We need these data centers to be able to create this technology to do the work, and there’s dark sides of all the technology. But, again, if we can make this up for an investment in these data service centers, I I think we can actually do some really, really good work for the Earth.
Kate Northrup: Okay. Is there anything we should know about the data centers and their locations and, like, what your thoughts are on optimizing this and not ruining communities I or
Callan Faulkner: think I don’t know. I’m just we’re getting into what yeah. Let’s just say, do I wish we’re putting them in places outside of where there’s water passing by, and we can get them into optimal places that, you know, there’s a lot of land in Texas that is completely unused with no human footprint Uh-huh. That would be great. Yeah.
In my opinion Okay. It would feel great to do that. I think it depends. Again, this is where we’re running into some governmental issues and approvals and
Kate Northrup: Yes.
Callan Faulkner: What’s possible and things are happening really fast. Yeah. There’s not government sometimes a little chaotic. Mhmm. Yeah.
So in a perfect world, they would have rules around where they can go and where they can’t go.
Kate Northrup: Before we get into my other community objections, I wanna highlight that what we’re talking about right now, there’s a lot there’s a I I noticed a tendency. I’m curious if you noticed this as well, to ask experts, like, what’s gonna happen? Right? So what’s gonna happen? What’s the future of the economy?
What’s the future of technology? What’s the future of AI? What’s the future of education? And I wanna highlight in this conversation for you listening right now that what is going to happen will be determined by the behavior of human beings right now. There is no crystal ball.
We are creating the future in real time, and the decisions that we all make actually do create that future. Correct. So just know that Callan is an expert, and also she is not a fortune teller. And we all get to participate in this community and this conversation and ask ourselves, how am I gonna show up today? Yeah.
And what kind of future is that pouring into?
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. And I come back to I don’t know what’s gonna happen with AI. In fact, I actually really despise living in the future because it is so unknown. What I know right now is that AI is creating the biggest opportunity for people to make money, to create leverage in their life, to create efficiency, to elevate the human experience than we’ve ever had in our entire existence, in in the entire existence of this planet. One of my, students just recently had a baby.
And she had another one before and she messaged me and she said, this is the first time I’ve ever been able to actually nest with my newborn because my payroll is going out, my products are being shipped, my AI employees are working. I have a players that run the AI employees. My business is operating completely without me. My systems work. This is why we do this.
This is the light inside of this technology that women can have a baby, make a blank ton of money, have a beautiful marriage, go on vacation for for three to four weeks without your computer. This is the reality of what AI is creating for us. I’m seeing it inside of my own business. There is no way I would have scaled from $0 to on track for conservatively 40,000,000 in revenue in two and a half years without a 150 AI employees picking up the weight of all these things that need to get done, and my humans get to be in research and strategy and emotional decisions and intuition and creativity. That’s where my humans live.
They do not live in this low place, low frequency work. They are up in high frequency work as much as possible. And every anytime they dip down, we say, how do we get AI Yes. In there doing that job so that you can be elevated?
Kate Northrup: Which answered my last objection, which was about this is making humans dumber or it’s replacing humans. And one of the things that I’ve heard you talk about, and I love reading your newsletter, is that it is not ever about replacing humans. And you will see people talking about firing everybody and replacing them with all AI. And just to be clear, that’s not what you stand for. And my experience, I will just say, of using AI, and I’ve learned from you and a variety of other places, is that it helps me go into a higher level of thinking and a higher level of consciousness because a lot of the minutiae is handled.
So for example, I was working on a keynote two years ago, and I rather than go rewatch every single thing I had done, podcast episodes and this other training and this other thing, and spend all those that would have taken, like, at least six hours Yes. And then trying to take furious notes and Yes.
Callan Faulkner: Because I
Kate Northrup: know how my brain works. I put it all in with a specific prompt.
Callan Faulkner: But you let me just say, you put it all in. You put your context in and your knowledge and your ideas and your thoughts and your frameworks and your IP. Yes. Did. Very good.
Yes. I’m just Thank you.
Kate Northrup: Love being an a Thank so I put in all my own ideas. Correct. And then I had it help me to craft Yes. A keynote that was going to be not only an amalgamation of all of this, but also a continuation based on everything I was feeding it, which was my current thoughts and updated ideas. Amalgamation.
Oh, thank you.
Callan Faulkner: Never heard that. Oh, great. Scrabble. I love it. Just put that one
Kate Northrup: in. It the whole thing, I don’t know, took me two to three hours as opposed to probably what would have ended up being, like, twelve to twenty four hours.
Callan Faulkner: And don’t forget the procrastination element of that. That big task. Well, and
Kate Northrup: so the other thing is I am a very relational person, and I’m an external processor. AI is saving my marriage
Callan Faulkner: Absolutely.
Kate Northrup: Because my husband and I are also business partners. And so previously, he needed to do a lot of listening to me process. And now I can just sort of come to him with the summary
Callan Faulkner: Some ideas. Cannot Yeah. Yeah.
Kate Northrup: Have to sit there and Perfect. Receive all of that. So that’s great too. Okay. So I think we kind of handled that, like, it’s making people dumber, but do you wanna say anything else?
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. I just want yeah. I just I think in a lot of your women are business owners. Yes. I want to be very clear of the job of an entrepreneur and a founder right now that has a team.
Your job is not to come in and say use AI or you’re gonna get fired. And there will be people that are let go that that refuse to use it, are not using it. Because right now, even on my team, over the last year, I could feel the gap of the employees that knew how to use it, were studying it, were coming into our programs, and the ones that were not. Because the ones that we’re using it, we’re getting done five to seven the amount of work Yeah. In one day, or elevating their work into more strategy.
But we have to create a vision for each one of our employees’ roles. So I can even tell even now, even though I’ve said it a 100 times, some people will get so scared. What if I automate myself out of this job? What happens to me when I’m not actually pulling these ad reports anymore and I use the meta connection with Claude, it just auto pulls it. What do I do every Tuesday morning?
That’s your job as a leader to say, hey. Once this is automated, your job next is to help me with ad strategy. Right. And we’re gonna start doing more strategic conversations. We’re gonna replace that three hours of you building the report with a thirty minute meeting every Tuesday morning where we’re doing strategic ad work together, and we’re using our brains to workshop and look at the numbers and strategize about the numbers versus you building the report.
Does that make sense? Does that make sense? And then they’re like, oh my gosh. Yes. And it’s like, your next role is the strategic ads manager Yeah.
Not the ads admin. Right. Now can their brain, can they get to that place? Can they learn the strategy? Can they get to that creativity?
And many people’s creativity has been suppressed for potentially their entire lifetime. Yeah. So we need to do when we get our teams together, I’m like, creative exercise. Get that encourage bad ideas. Mhmm.
That’s never been more important because most people, potentially even their parents, never allowed them to No.
Kate Northrup: I mean, the entire school system is set up to, like, suppress Creativity. Of course.
Callan Faulkner: Yes. You got one art class.
Kate Northrup: Ideation and Totally. All of it.
Callan Faulkner: You’re outside for twenty minutes a day maybe if you’re lucky and you’re just
Kate Northrup: So, like, what if using AI could actually be a healing experience?
Callan Faulkner: What if?
Kate Northrup: You know? What if? And I will say I set up a Claude project to be a developmental editor to support me as I write my next book. And I for me, and this is gonna preface our next thing which is about authenticity, For me, it feels important that I write my book. Absolutely.
Every single sentence.
Callan Faulkner: 100%.
Kate Northrup: None of it will be written by AI Yep. At the time of this recording. I suppose I could change my mind. It’s pretty unlikely. Yeah.
But the developmental editor helps me as a thought partner, as a reflect, you know, reflection mirror, whatever, Three times already in the last month, its reflections have helped me see something Yep. In my story and in the thread and the arc of the book that I had not seen on my own
Callan Faulkner: Yep. And it made me cry. So I’ve got a good story for you. Okay. Great.
So I’m on the plane to Naples, Florida. This is about a year and a half ago, and I’m sitting in a middle seat. I booked it really last minute, terrible decision. I’m sitting next to this woman, and she is typing out with her little thumbs on her phone this long, long, long email. And I hear the little voice of creator.
Creator’s like, hey, you should tell her about AI. Like, tell her, like, she could just voice memo into her phone, at least WhisperFlow maybe. WhisperFlow, by the way, is a tool we use to not have to use your keyboard anymore. And so I’m like, hey, no. I’m I see you’re writing this really long thing.
Like, have you mess played with AI at all? And she’s like, oh my gosh. No. I’m an author. Absolutely not.
That’s terrible. I was like, what’s your name? She’s like, Diane. I’m like, Diane, would you be willing to give me like thirty minutes?
Kate Northrup: I love you. I love that you would do this.
Callan Faulkner: She’s like, I never seen that. Someone’s worst nightmare. Most of us worst nightmare. I would I’m like, I just can’t help myself. I’m obsessed.
So I I pull my computer out. She’s like, oh, god. I pull up Claude. I start building a Claude project. I’m like, so die like, what’s your dream?
And she’s like, I’m writing a memoir. I’m like, how long have you been writing it? Six years. Oh. Perfect.
Not published yet? Perfect. Yeah. Awesome. Little bit yeah.
Lacking action. Awesome. So we go through this process. The first thirty minutes was me extracting her memoir story out of her. And I pulled you know, I had Claude, build 25 high impact questions to extract everything out as if it’s a world class and New York Times bestselling coach that knows everything that if we were a Vegas betting agency Yeah.
It would be a 100 out of a 100 in terms of this book being on New York’s bestselling, what would the 25 questions be that we would ask? Then I add then I had just gone to a book writing seminar. So I had a lot of good ideas of, like, okay. I knew how to do character development, and we knew this this this. So we took this extraction, we put it through.
I built a bunch of prompts that built the back cover, the the Table
Kate Northrup: of contents.
Callan Faulkner: Table of contents. Yep. Thank you. I’m like, Books. What?
It’s a lot of things. Oh my god. So I haven’t written one yet. Yeah. Table of contents, back cover, inside cover.
Yes. And then I went on, YouTube, and I pulled a 100 YouTube transcripts of how to build the best proposal for a publishing company. I reverse engineered the playbook of how to get a pro a proposal together, And then I put all of it through this proposal prompt that I built, and I built her proposal by the end of the trip. And, she was crying. She was crying.
She was like, I wish we were flying to Europe. Like, we’re only flying to Florida. And so we had the whole proposal done by the time we landed, and, we had a chance to catch up a few weeks later. And she was like, there is a 0% chance. And the same thing, we we caught a couple of these moments where she’s walking across the bridge with her sister, and there’s this bridge concept and this character development.
We didn’t notice all these links of things. And it is just I I talk about it now, I still have goosebumps because of the magic that it pulled out and then the action that we took. Yeah. We took hyper obsessive action for two hours, and we got more done than she got done in six years on a flight to Naples.
Kate Northrup: So good.
Callan Faulkner: So fun. So good. I feel like I get to do magic. Like, I really feel like I’m a
Kate Northrup: Witnessed you do it now several times in person, and then now just telling me the story, obviously, this is just who you are. You can’t stop, won’t stop. I love it. I love it.
What was the one we didn’t touch? Oh, yeah. Just I mean, now this feels boring in the context of what you just saw. Here we go. I have to ask you.
What about security and
Callan Faulkner: Okay. They’re like, this has been a good podcast. How
Kate Northrup: do you not, you know, basically, like, have people steal your financial information? You know, know there was that whole hoop club about Mel Robbins saying upload your banking information to Yeah.
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Kate Northrup: So what do you think? What should we know?
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. So this is the thing. You know, these large language model companies, Anthropic, OpenAI, they’re they’re new. They’re new on the scene. We don’t know them.
They’re new guys at the they’re new friends. So we’re we’re getting to trust them. Anthropic has a really incredible, website called trust.anthropic.com where they publish all of the compliance and security things they do. If you’re really, really, really nervous, I would say where are your key financial documents stored right now? So for me, they are currently in Google Drive.
They are in the of Google. Do I know where they are? No. But Google owns them.
Kate Northrup: They’re in a server in a building.
Callan Faulkner: That’s right. Somewhere. Somewhere in The United States. Learn that. Maybe somewhere else.
Honestly, maybe on the planet. Don’t know. You don’t know where your data is, but you know that Google has access. If you’re really nervous, I’d say, why don’t you use Google Gemini to do this because you’re gonna be using their technology. Maybe you use OneDrive for your financial documents, then you could use Microsoft Copilot.
They have Microsoft as their own security. So this is, where we’re getting to is I personally think OpenAI is the least trustworthy AI on the market right now. Not on the market. Freaking there’s like DeepSeek and all these crazy ones. For the big ones.
Right? Yeah. They you know, there’s some values I don’t agree with that they are engaging in. They just took contract with the government that allowed for monitoring US citizens without our Us noticing. They allowed for autonomous use of weapons in war using their technology, and Anthropic Claude said no.
Yeah. We’re not going to engage in that. And so there’s there’s some stuff coming out about integrity of these different platforms. I would just say, you know, your data is already in the cloud with a provider. Unless you have a server in your basement that somebody manages, you already have a company that’s managing your financial data.
QuickBooks Online already has they’re using data in the cloud. They’re using AI. And so, you know, we just we have to be careful, especially if you’re in medical. You gotta be careful about HIPAA with, you know, using patient
Kate Northrup: names and
Callan Faulkner: that kind of thing.
Kate Northrup: Other people’s information. Sure.
Callan Faulkner: For sure. I personally used it use it every single day to manage my financial situation.
Kate Northrup: So, you know, maybe we’re not, like, uploading our bank account Sure. Account number Sure. Whatever. Right? But it can be so useful for reflecting things to us about our money that we may not see.
Correct. Because as our friend Adley says, you cannot read the label from inside the bottle.
Callan Faulkner: That’s right.
Kate Northrup: So what are some of the fun things that you use AI for for your relationship with
Callan Faulkner: Oh my gosh. So I have a money coach. I have trained it to take on some of the inspiration from some of my greatest mentors, from some of the greatest podcasts I’ve listened to. I’ve loaded those in. And then I had it interviewing my my money story.
Mhmm. And I loaded that in, and then I had it I loaded in my goals, my 10 x goals. And then I said, fill in the gaps. What else do you need before we start? Right.
And then when I have a a decision to make, it also has the connector turned on to QuickBooks, so it can see my real time financial information. I will go in and so I just bought a house. I used it the entire time. I said, you know, what can I what can I afford? What’s the right decision?
What would be like green, yellow, red in terms of an investment? What I also do is I feed it. I’ll have calls with my financial team, my my tax team, and then I will feed those transcripts in as well. So they’ll be teaching me things. What is a pledged asset line?
Never heard of that before.
Kate Northrup: Me neither.
Callan Faulkner: So then I’ll then I’ll put that in there and say, well, you said this amazing call to my team. Teach me, like, I’m a sixth grader, what this term is. Walk me through this, like, I’m a sixth grader, how I you know, they’re teaching me how to set this up. Like, what does this all mean? So it’s it’s it is a very factual experience.
Like, I get to sit with the information I already have. But how how much do we retain in a call with our financial tax team of what they’re telling us to do and all those steps in the process? I don’t know. 25% of what they said. And so I need more time to sit with it, so it’s been really powerful for me.
Because if you don’t know me, I am my beautiful girlfriend Nicole in our relationship, she’s like, you can handle that. So I I ask all the the women entrepreneurs. I’m like, who does all this stuff for you? And they’re like, my husband. I’m like, well, I don’t have one of those, so I have to be the husband, and I have to learn all of this.
Kate Northrup: And you know what? Here’s what I wanna say, because, yes, I will say, I married a man who is the king of logistics. Freaking awesome.
Callan Faulkner: He is most Male brains are great at this.
Kate Northrup: They are. Very blatant. However, it’s so important that every single one of us, no matter Half the the relationship, no matter same sex, opposite, whatever, it doesn’t matter, to be engaged. And that’s
Callan Faulkner: why Yes.
Kate Northrup: We do money dates. The number of times that somebody, you know, gives it away and ends up in a situation where they didn’t know what was happening, and they end up in a, you know, financial Well, this is the coin.
Callan Faulkner: Blind eye thing.
Kate Northrup: Like, business didn’t expect it’s it’s very common. So I actually love that you are just fully Well, I’m that you do it. But, yes. You learn who you are. Exactly.
In a way that, you know, you can’t outsource going to your personal trainer.
Callan Faulkner: I feel effing empowered. Of course,
Kate Northrup: you do.
Callan Faulkner: I’m like walking through places. I feel different. I feel You
Kate Northrup: know what a pledged asset line is? What is that?
Callan Faulkner: Well, it’s when you have your cash Yep. In an account Yep. And you can take a loan against Yes. Your cash. Yes.
And so if I would gone out and gotten caught in a traditional mortgage for my home, it would have been six and a half percent. Right. Versus if you take a loan against yourself, it’s 5.2%. Genius. Who freaking knew?
Kate Northrup: Well, so only you only know if you end up talking to financial professionals and if you end up in the rooms with people who are playing a pretty big game because these are not No. Public strategies for a reason.
Callan Faulkner: Did AI tell me about a pledged asset line?
Kate Northrup: No. A human did. Correct.
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. Correct. Yeah. And that’s why
Kate Northrup: That’s very important.
Callan Faulkner: The mentorship and being around humans with human experience is so freaking important.
Kate Northrup: Because you wouldn’t have even if you don’t know something exists, you would never be able to prompt Correct. Necessarily for it to have given you that information. Yeah. And it may not even know it because it’s Sure. Listen.
I’ve been playing this game for a long time. The I the fact that I’ve never heard that term before means it’s obscure. Yeah. Sure. And maybe
Callan Faulkner: there’s different words for it in different places. I mean It’s part
Kate Northrup: of that concept, but not that name.
Callan Faulkner: Sure. Yeah. And that’s that.
Kate Northrup: That’s a great strategy.
Callan Faulkner: Thank you so much.
Kate Northrup: I’m so excited about you and your mortgage rate.
Callan Faulkner: I’m jazzed. Well, well, I was annoyed. I honestly because when I was talking to Claude about it, and I love AI, it’s like, this is the process, and we gotta start talking to a loan adviser. And then my guys are like, oh god. No.
You don’t. You know? So again, this is these moments where AI is not the end all be all. And I actually was talking to him the other day, she’s like, well, AI told me. I’m like, okay.
What? You see you’re this is where, and you know we’re both passionate about spirituality. Yeah. It has never been more important to be in tune with your body. Mhmm.
Because when you’re seeing the information come from Claude, it is a you have to filter it. Just like when you’re hearing it from a mentor
Kate Northrup: Or just you’re listening to this podcast. I’m sure there’s something one of us said that doesn’t resonate with someone listening.
Callan Faulkner: Don’t really agree.
Kate Northrup: It’s fine.
Callan Faulkner: It’s good. Fantastic. Good for you. I love that we have some conflicting. You’re not gonna sit here and have Oprah talk to you and be like, everything Oprah says is perfect.
No. She’s gonna say something and be like, I don’t agree. Yeah. And that’s that is that’s the magic. Yes.
When you are saying things that everyone agrees with, no one cares. No. Okay. Boring. It is boring.
Kate Northrup: And in fact, I will say there are certain elements in which it’s made me more discerning. So in working with my book coach, if it pushes back on something, I’m somebody, you know, in my human design, I’m a responsive type. Yeah. So I don’t really know what I think until I’m presented options. Same with me.
And so it gives me something, and I’m like, oh, that’s for sure not it. Yes. So then I know what is. Edit from there. Uh-huh.
And so it helps me build that muscle Yeah. Of discernment Yeah. And and the contrast
Callan Faulkner: Conscious use of AI.
Kate Northrup: Well, yes. Very much
Callan Faulkner: so. And this is where I’m and 80% of our clients are women. We’ve had Wow. Really? Yeah.
13,000 businesses come through our programs over the last two years. 80 female owned. Absolutely unbelievable. I mean, these women are powerhouses. But it is so fun to see them.
They’re elevating their consciousness simultaneously. They really are because they’re having they’re being forced to actually filter things. And they’re being forced to because AI is such a great poker back at it is. If you if you tell it to me. Yes.
You know? B, you know, I will tell it. I was chatting with it yesterday actually about some of this environmental stuff. Uh-huh. And so I was playing we were playing debate.
And I said, I want you to be a complete devil’s advocate, and I pretend like I’m sitting in front of 10,000 people at South by Southwest, and there’s an environmental activist that’s worked for the US government for twenty five years. What would they say to me right now? Square. AI was, like, searching because except searching. I was like, I gotta go research.
You know, what would they say? But this is, like, my level of understanding the depth of what it can do allows me to use it in a completely different way. And then the biggest thing too is training it. And I know most women are listening to this saying, I use it every day. There’s a difference between using it and then training it on process, training it on how you do business, training it on how you think and how you write and how you make decisions.
And you may not even know how you make decisions because you’ve never documented it.
Kate Northrup: Right. It’s just happening automatically. Correct.
Callan Faulkner: And so now the next the game is how do you record yourself making decisions for the next six months? Take every single one of those transcripts and go into Claude and say, I want you to reverse engineer the IP and the frameworks that are coming from the way I make decisions Yeah. In a way that a sixth grader could understand so that I can train my employees and my AI on my thinking process.
Kate Northrup: Listening to Callan, I I wanna just have you note that the every way she is speaking as though she’s talking to Claude is the way she prompts, and she actually teaches you how to prompt like that. Because if AI is not working for you, it is because you are not using it correctly. Correct. And that way of prompting that sounds kind of conversational, but she layers on all these things that you’re like, I never would have thought of that, but that’s so good Mhmm. Is a method Yes.
That you teach Correct. That will unlock so many possibilities.
Callan Faulkner: Everything in my company that is an a that’s an AI employee started as just a one off prompt that I did.
Kate Northrup: Like a one off thing that you needed?
Callan Faulkner: Yeah. So for example, like content creation. So I have a whole process for organic content creation. The first thing that it does is it goes into my granola transcripts. This is where all of our transcripts are.
We have a content atomizer employee, and it goes in and it pulls out all of the hooks, all of the stories, all of the controversial things I said that’s gonna make great organic. Then I have an employee that crushes hooks. Well, that employee took ten hours to train. I’m not kidding you. Me sitting there being like, no.
Yes. No. Yes. Rewriting it and then saying, hey. I rewrote the hook.
I want you to take what you gave me and what I gave you, and I want you to, in plain English, deeply describe the differences between what I gave you and what you gave me as a set of instructions so that I can now add it back into your instructions bank. So it’s very it’s very inception. But this is the this is the work Yeah. Of training it like you were training a human to be exceptional. And in your boot
Kate Northrup: camp, what actually are you Yes.
Callan Faulkner: Teaching What
Kate Northrup: are we doing? That time that someone would walk away
Callan Faulkner: Yes. I’ve talked about our scale, our rapid scale, and it’s because of the AI employees we have. And so in the boot camp, I’m going through our different departments, and I am showing. I’m not doing slideshows.
We’re not doing Canva slide decks. It is, hey. How are you? Open up, and I’m going right into Clawd. It’s like
Kate Northrup: come behind the scenes Yes. In my Clawd ecosystem.
Callan Faulkner: Show in sales, in marketing, in people performance, in even in my day to day life workflow, even my meal planning workflow. I have the Instacart connector turned on to Claude. So when I do my meal planning, I’ve got the whole meal plan for the week, the grocery list, bing, it it fills cooks the cart. It? I’m my house manager.
Manager. Okay. Yep. So
Kate Northrup: Checking. Yep.
Callan Faulkner: Yep. Look. Look. We’re not superheroes around here.
Kate Northrup: In my household. No. Our household manager does as well.
Callan Faulkner: Yes. Yes.
Kate Northrup: She is the gift of my life.
Callan Faulkner: Yes. She yes. We get we need help.
Kate Northrup: Because if you don’t know what it can do, you won’t know. That’s exactly right. So every time I hang out with you or one of my other friends who is like a heavy user, you know, optimizing their lives, I’m like, wait. What? And then new possibilities.
And I think of new possibilities all the time as well. And so just being shown that behind the scenes is so powerful.
Callan Faulkner: It’s like an artist never ever seeing any painting ever in their life. Right. Or you’re gonna redo a remodel. Yeah. So what’s the first thing you start doing?
And you start, great. Yeah. That’s what the boot camp is. I am giving you info So fun. Of what is possible inside of your business.
Kate Northrup: I bet you, if we were to be able to hook electrodes to people’s brains during that boot camp, we would actually see a lot of new neural pathways being formed Absolutely. Because of all the new ways of thinking that, yes, certainly, I may not use it in the exact same way that Callan does. Our lives are very different. Yes. But I can see, oh, if she’s doing that, this is how it would apply to me.
And then suddenly, it’s like Correct. Correct. Lighting up everywhere.
Callan Faulkner: Seeing some of our financial dashboards or how we manage our launch. Maybe you don’t do a launch, but maybe you have an event coming up, and you want a dashboard that feeds into Notion and this and that. And you can you can start to put these pieces together. And so it’s really, really, really fun. And it’s three days, and it’s a Tuesday, Thursday, Tuesday Yeah.
So that we have time in between to rest. Love that.
Kate Northrup: So good. What is it called?
Callan Faulkner: The AI employee boot camp.
Kate Northrup: The AI employee boot camp. Okay. Great. So if you wanna sign up for that, go to katenorthrup.com/aiemployee, and you can get your seat. Amazing.
Kate Northrup: Okay. So, Callan, final question. What is the future that you are creating? Yeah. What are you using your actions to pray for every single day?
Callan Faulkner: Yes. My mission on this planet is to assist in the process of activating humans to their highest potential. And I am very passionate about you know, we are so blessed. We get to come into a job every day that we are in our highest potential. We are in strategy, vision, creation.
Most humans have never in their entire life even believed they’re worthy of a job that activates their soul’s gifts. Most people, and I know many of people in my life that are in a Fortune 500 company, they’re a mid level marketing, and they put PowerPoints together for a living. That job will not exist, and it already doesn’t exist. The question is, what is this person going to do next? What is their gift on this planet?
What are they good at? I want them to be able to search in the depths of their soul, and the beauty of AI is it’s going to force them to do it. So we are going to humans are gonna rise. I think we’re gonna see tremendous amounts of abundance. I think we’re gonna see humans in jobs in in positions that are actually activating more of their brain than they’ve been turning on in the past.
And I’m extremely hopeful, and I think there’s gonna be businesses that are able to run at extremely healthy margins. I was just talking to a few friends that have, you know, million dollar businesses with 20 people working for them. No margins. No margins. And no.
We don’t you know, it’s not about having people do less. I have not fired one person because of AI. I have only elevated their role. Take those 20 people and get them elevated. What kind of revenue could we bring in in that scenario?
So I think we’re gonna see a large influx of revenue come in, money come in, especially in for women, and it’s gonna be really exciting. We’re already seeing it. It’s already happening. I can see it across thousands and thousands. Anyways, I’m already seeing it in my community, and it’s super special.
So Really beautiful. Makes me excited.
