Is it just me, or has this past week been a doozy?
When the Life layers on grief, disorientation, spousal spats, IP conflicts, jaw pain, car trouble, and a hurricane the week of a launch, here’s what I double down on:
Feeling my feelings
Regulating my nervous system
The 20% that gets me 80% of the results
Meaningful connection (physical if possible)
Rest
This weekend, I laid on the couch a lot. It was *so* productive.
A decade ago, I would’ve been beating myself up for not getting anything *done.* I didn’t even work out except for a slow stroll in the rain.
But I’ve spent the last 8 years breaking free from patriarchal productivity, and now I get it:
The most important results are never seen.
They’re felt.
Patriarchal productivity says that what matters most is the visible results we create, especially the ones that align with the cultural narrative that status and power over others matter the most.
Patriarchal productivity says that what matters most is how it looks.
Body-based productivity says that what matters most is aligning our actions with what makes us come alive.
Body-based productivity says that what matters most is how it feels.
This weekend, my body needed extra rest, and my heart needed extra care. My family needed snuggles, giggles, and conversations about stuff that’s real.
Did I process the returns on my dining room table? Nope.
Did I clean up my apartment? Again, no.
Did I do 10,000 steps a day or hit my Oura ring activity goal? I did not.
Did I prioritize my body and my heart so that I can show up for the people and things that matter the most this week (including myself)? You bet your bippy I did.
Here’s the thing,
Most folks are under a complete spell that how much they get done is what matters the most.
It’s a lie because not one person on their deathbed wishes they’d gotten more done.
What they’re wishing for is that they’d let themselves live more fully, love more deeply, and be more joyful.
What if you could lay around all weekend and wake up Monday morning feeling like it was *so* productive?
I’m here to set as many people free from the profoundly limiting paradigm that our lives are only as valuable as how much we have to show for them.
And you know what’s wild?
When we get right with productivity and the way we work, the magical thing is that we tend to create visible results that are also meaningful with more ease and flow.
How it feels matters just as much if not more than how it looks. And how it feels starts with the body.
So, I’ll leave you with this:
If your most important metric for today was how you felt, what would you focus on?
Go ahead. Put it on the schedule 😘.
Xo,
Kate
