What does it mean to be human? Glimpse TV with Chela Davison

You know those people who you feel like you’ve known for multiple lifetimes when you first meet them? Chela Davison is like that for me.

After our first hour on the phone together I felt “gotten” in a really profound way. And when we finally met in person, we were doing partner yoga, laughing, and crying within the first day or two.

Chela is not only a brilliant writer and an incredibly gifted coach, she’s also one of the easiest people to be with whom I’ve ever had the privilege of being with. She’s insightful (and you’ll find out how she got that way in today’s Glimpse TV episode), she’s wacky, she’s hilarious, and she makes me feel totally safe to be all of me: all the great stuff and all the messy stuff.

No judgement.

All love and wisdom and permission.

Chela and I sat down a few months ago for a chat, Glimpse TV-style. There were giggles — perhaps even more than the usual. And questions that seemed to come out of nowhere. And a heck of a lot of wisdom from Ms. Davison.

Here’s what you’ll learn/get in this episode:

  • An exploration of the questions “What’s really going on here?” and “What does it mean to be human?” (Yep — Chela went there. Go big or go home.)
  • How to alter your way of being to transcend not-so-helpful patterns and include all the good stuff that’s working for you
  • How to talk to strangers
  • The biggest mistake people make when trying to forge a connection with other humans
  • Why pushing boundaries is one of Chela’s favorite things to do and what she gets out of it
  • Plus lots more fun and wisdom!

  • So great to see this! This is exactly where I’m at. I am coming off of several years of very focused, intense, active application of energy that was very masculine (“ON IT” like a mofo). I’ve started off this new year with a real commitment to leaning back into my feminine energy, which is so different. It’s about surrendering and allowing and moving slow and sexy. I am experimenting with how much I can still get done without being super agro and orderly in that mental, masculine way. Cool to see Chela embody that in this interview. Kate, you are awesome! Thanks for all the great content you put out.

  • Wow, this really resonates. I am TOO aware of myself out in the world. I had a ‘friend’ the other day tell me that I am TOO needy. I find people seem to stay away from me. When someone tells me, or assumes I am ‘being’ a certain way, I tend to ‘act’ that way. I am hugely influenced by others. This is painful and has absolutely NOT served my or helped me to succeed in the world. I have become someone paranoid in wanting to hold in my energy for fear of giving off the wrong vibe to people. I sometimes think I didn’t learn proper social queues as a child. I find I am obsessed in observing how people socialize and connect with each other as I think I am not connecting ‘normally’. I don’t know if this makes sense?? I believe I am a highly sensitive person and really struggle sometimes.

  • These are so lovely, Kate! It makes me want to interview all my incredible friends. Fun, simple, and truly so much benefit. Love it!

Love this, you guys are real, fun and calming at the same time. Thank you for sharing.

  • Such great genuine laughter and delight in each others presence. A joy to watch plus juicy, thought provoking content. Chela seems like a gem.

  • what a beautiful, fun, uplifting video. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Chela’s work. I totally get the power of looking at who we want to BE in the world and tuning into our energetic bodies first to spark the change we want to experience. It always comes back to energy! I find the metaphors really useful too as a creative way to really feel into the new way of being. Love inadequate pigeon and taking my seat! Really interesting stuff, thanks ladies xx
